| Over the Edge Journal Ingrid |
Extreme Journaling Ingrid Dijkers Coming
energized from teaching at Teesha Moore's Journal Fest, Ingrid will be offering a two day workshop at Whispering Woodlands.
Mark your calendar now. This
class will take an ordinary chipboard loose-leaf binder and guide you into transforming it into very unique and personal Art
Journal. We'll work on getting those pages to "pop" (nobody likes dull flat pages) and make the edges of those pages
sizzle (guilding on steroids). We will break away from the tradition rectangular shaped page and explore ways
of developing and making other shapes for our pages giving our books more dimension and interest. The importance of
the often neglected edges of pages will also be emphasized and altered. Ingrid's book "An Instructional Guide for Going
over the Edge" and "An Octopus's Garden" will be available for viewing many different examples. Both books
display a plethora of possibilities using materials we all probably already have on hand. Imagery will be provided that can
be easily incorporated into our journals for uniquely different and often quirky results that we are sure to revel in. Sat/Sun Nov 14 & 15 9:30 - 4 $235/$15 materials

by creating a glass on glass art piece. This unique form of mosaics is similar to stained glass without all of the
measuring and metal work! Create a mixed media mosaic on the glass of a frame that can be hung in a window to catch
the light. You will learn the basics of mosaics including design, tools, cutting, adhesives, grouting, and more.
Grouting will need to be done at home outside of the class - materials and instructions will be provided. Learn the
technique - great holiday gift idea - or give the workshop to your favorite artistic friend or family member. Fri Nov 20 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. $95/10 materials

| Studio Landscape Acrylic Painting |
Studio Landscape Painting in Acrylic: A Direct Approach (All Skill Levels) Kay Brathol-Hostvet
This
studio workshop will focus on painting the landscape "a la prima" style-directly, without the use of multiple glazes
or extensive blending. You will be challenged to work quickly, loosely, and expressively. The direct approach is both visual
and intuitive and encourages great personal expression. Working in acrylic has the benefits of little odor, water clean-up,
and quick drying which allows for almost immediate changes. All skill levels are welcome, from the absolute beginner who has never worked with
acrylic to more advanced painters. Previous drawing and painting experience in any medium is helpful but beginners will
be successful through first learning some keys to paint handling and basic color theory. The more advanced painters
will be challenged to do some unique quick "paint sketch" exercises on paper to warm up before beginning your larger
acrylic on canvas. You will need to bring in several landscape snapshots to work from. Instructor provides all
practice papers. A supply list will be sent to you. Sat/Sun Nov 21/22 Sat 9-4:30 Sun 10-4 $175/$5 materials
Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday
weekend. It is our family tradition to all be together
over the Thanksgiving weekend. Whispering Woodlands is hosting the event again this year. Safe
Travels!

cast metal letterforms (type), you will handset your personal holiday greeting from the assortment of Whispering Woodlands
fonts or typestyles. Type is set or placed in order, upside down and backwards. Challenging at first to say the least.
Print multiple copies to send to family and friends. (Number printed will depend on length of wording/time to set - short
phrase recommended.) There are also stock or 'preset' phrases that provide traditional greetings. Think of this as pre
rubberstamping, used in production printing before the typewriter or computer. Discover the history behind the printing
press, used as both a workhorse and an art form. We have a nice selection of holiday theme printing blocks/designs to use
to decorate your personal message as well. Class size will remain small to accomodate individual needs. Sat Dec 5 10 -

will be viewed, using the book, Art Doll Chronicals as a basis for inspiration. No prior sewing experience beyond threading
a needle or sewing a button perhaps, will be necessary. This could be the start of a winter/holiday
