a Retreat to Nature for the Creative Mind

Just a little note:

Many of the classes I personally offer are meant to provide a progression in inter-related book arts opportunities. It is not necessary to take them in any specific order, but understand they are complimentary in nature. By taking a decorative paper workshop, you may utilize your work in a book structure as text pages, end sheets or as a cover. Likewise, by taking papermaking you may use the results in a book or as a substrate for a print, drawing, painting, or with letterpress.   Think of them as part of, or a means to an end, not the end in themselves. (not that many can not stand alone and be appreciated as completed work) It is also for this reason I repeat some foundational workshops more often. Understanding the method to my madness may be helpful when making workshop choices.   Jackie

Common tools for sketching/journaling

Sketchbook/Art Journaling  Tina Duemler

Experiment with a variety of art mediums, and be inspired by nature in the rural WI setting of Whispering Woodlands.  Sketchbook/Art Journaling will either introduce you to, or help you revisit, the idea of using a sketchbook as a tool to guide and inspire you in your creative processes.  Take time to slow down and capture your observations, what you find inspirational. We will be using different art mediums; pencil, charcoal, watercolor, pen and ink, color pencil, etc.  If you like, embellish your sketches with poem, verse, writing or a collage of materials such as paper, beads, etc.  Sketchbooks can be used in countless ways, come explore the possibilities. Let us help get you started this summer, with minimal supplies, this is easily continued at home. Mon July 6, 13  1 - 4:30 $125/$5 materials
