Whispering Woodlands

is offering a medley of artist supporting opportunities,

Mini Seminars, (WW Mini (s))

Relax and learn, opportunities to know more about the how to's and what not's of being an artist. Information will be shared in the relaxing atmosphere of Whispering Woodlands. Seminars are not hands-on workshops. Enjoy these informative seminars without committing yourself to a full day or weekend. Perhaps you have always been curious to know more about the cost effective studio practices or how to take the next step in your professional artistic development, yet did not feel you could commit to a weekly schedule, a weekend or even a full day. (a few examples are: preparing your own supports for painting, inexpensive framing options, approaching a gallery)

This is the opportunity for you!

Whispering Woodlands Mini Seminars WW Mini (s)

are offered in a variety of time slots;

mornings 10-1, afternoons 1-4 and evenings 6-9,

structured for your busy schedule.

Typical Fees $40

WW Mini (s) times and programs are flexible,

" I'm from toad frogs, katydids, and Bachelor Buttons beside the stone well/  From Red Man Snuss and fast talkers/ From early risers and biscuits cut with a shining tumbler against the floured board/ from coffee popping up in the perculator/like a chipmunk from its hole....."

Establishing Identity Gay Davidson-Zielske

All of us are from somewhere.  In fact, the first thing we ask strangers on a train is "Where ya from?"  and then get to names later.  We establish identity, but also connect this way.  My workshop will help you vocalize where you are "from" and where you are "coming from" in many ways by working you through a template poem (the original is by George Ella Lyon, but we do a sort of "homage")  and encouraging you to vary the pattern and use your own biographical material to best advantage.  One student coming out of my workshop just placed close to top in a fairly big contest using his "Where I'm From" poem.  We will spend the first part of the workshop generating materials, the second sharing bits and pieces with the group, then take some time to perfect, come back together, and meet each other.  This exercise produces amazing results.

Past students have really appreciated this exercise and I have many excellent examples to share.
